Zusammenfassung:	In W-Europe about 80% of all lower limb amputations (LLA) are caused by vascular pathology. The majority of people is over 65 years of age. In de period 1982-2006 there are major changes in amputation level and age cohorts. There is a decrease in amputation incidence in the more elderly population. Abstract
